Jumana Motiwala is a furniture designer and artist based in Mumbai, India. She creates evocative sculptural furniture that explores duality and the intersectionality of identity. Her practice is deeply rooted in material experimentation and informed by historical craft traditions, with a meticulous focus on reclaiming the past within the larger context of designing objects for contemporary people and spaces.

She is a valedictorian B.Des graduate of Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Bangalore and has an MFA in Furniture Design from the Rhode Island School of Design, where she began exploring ceramics in furniture. To her, objects are an opportunity to communicate the various contexts inhabited in everyday life, offering interaction beyond functionalism and toward mental stimulation. Juxtaposition is central to her work which explores delicacy and durability through interplay of intuitive and controlled actions.
